In this episode Mike and Mike talk about two films that are "spiritual relatives" in a way in that they deal with the seedy underbelly of America, victimization and general sleaziness. Of course we're talking about Paul Schrader's 1979 film Hardcore starring George C Scott and the Joel Schumaker's 1999 exploration into the world of snuff films 8MM.

Jeff and I revisit two of the coolest, early H.P. Lovecraft imaginings from the 80's. The late Stuart Gordon became an icon of cinema, but some of his coolest work can be found in Reanimator and From Beyond, two films that departed from the original source material, but created an interesting environment for the cosmic horrors of Lovecraft to manifest their tentacled, dripping glory.

It seems like Lovecraft is popular again. Not only do we have straight up adaptations of his work like Colour Out of Space, but his creepy hand has reached far beyond and his influence can be seen in some new movies. Beach House, which is currently running exclusively on Shudder, is one such film. Check out our analysis of this atmospheric horror film that gives a glimpse into cosmic horror.
