In this episode Mike and Mike talk about two films that are "spiritual relatives" in a way in that they deal with the seedy underbelly of America, victimization and general sleaziness. Of course we're talking about Paul Schrader's 1979 film Hardcore starring George C Scott and the Joel Schumaker's 1999 exploration into the world of snuff films 8MM.

NECROMANIACS 048: VICE SQUAD

Descend with us, this week,  into the seedy mire of depravity, violence and corruption.  Vice Squad is somewhat of a lost classic in the vein of Taxi Driver, Cruising and other dark crime dramas. It features Wings Hauser chewing the scenery as Ramrod, the brutal coat-hanger wielding pimp with a pitch-black heart.

NECROMANIACS 048: REANIMATOR AND FROM BEYOND

Jeff and I revisit two of the coolest, early H.P. Lovecraft imaginings from the 80's. The late Stuart Gordon became an icon of cinema, but some of his coolest work can be found in Reanimator and From Beyond, two films that departed from the original source material, but created an interesting environment for the cosmic horrors of Lovecraft to manifest their tentacled, dripping glory.

This week, filmmaker Zane Hershberger joins us to talk about the forthcoming film CRYPTIDS. Do you love The Jersey Devil, Big Foot and The Mothman? If you answered yes than this episode is for you.  CRYPTIDS is an anthology movie featuring horror legend Joe Bob Briggs as a late night DJ (ala Art Bell in Coast to Coast) in a wrap-around story that laces together all of the individual tales of monsters and creatures that may or my not exist.

NECROMANIACS 044: BEACH HOUSE

It seems like Lovecraft is popular again. Not only do we have straight up adaptations of his work like Colour Out of Space, but his creepy hand has reached far beyond and his influence can be seen in some new movies.  Beach House, which is currently running exclusively on Shudder, is one such film.  Check out our analysis of this atmospheric horror film that gives a glimpse into cosmic horror.

NECROMANIACS 043: ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD

This week, we showcase Quentin Tarantino's 2020 opus ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, not necessarily a horror film, but Tarantino has been a friend to the genre. It was one of our favorite films of the year.
