Thursday Aug 12, 2021

Thursday Aug 12, 2021

Jeff and Mike riff on Censor, the debut film by Prano Bailey-Bond, someone that we will definitely be keeping our eyes on for future releases.  Censor is a period piece set in the 1980’s UK “Video Nasties” era and addresses sensory overload and it’s affect on the human psyche, especially is that psyche belongs to someone with a borderline personality.

Did you know that the infamous 1978 exploitation film I Spit on Your Grave was remade in 2010? Not only was it remade, but there were two sequels to the remake as well as an official sequel to the original where Camille Keaton reprises her role as Jennifer Hills? Mike S and Mike H take a look at the divisive, uncomfortable films with a focus on the 2010 remake. Are these films valid commentary, sleazy exploitation, or a little bit of both? You decide!

A few episodes ago, we covered Sator, the atmospheric, cosmic horror film that is making waves in the horror scene. The film will definitely have a place on a lot of year end lists, especially around here at the Necromaniacs camp. Filmmaker Jordan Graham was generous enough to speak with us this week. Enjoy.

This is part 2 of our guest co-host series.  Welcome Rennie Resmini, friend of the show, vocalist of the legendary Starkweather and movie afficionado. I asked Rennie to join us because he is literally the only other person that I know who has seen this movie.  We are, of course, referring to Blood, the 2000 UK “vampire” movie by Charly Cantor.

Outro:   “Desolate” - Starkweather

From time to time we like to ask our friends on as guest co-host, so for the next couple or weeks. This week, friend of the show, guitarist and vocalist of German Black Metal outfit Ultha, as well as founder or Ropes of Night, Ralph Schmidt joins us to discuss Sputnik and Lifer, two films that share some common themes.  For those of you who listen to Everything Went Black, you’ll know Ralph as the co-host of Unholy Passion, a new recurring show on EWB.
